[Food Review] Hummus and Pita Co

When you wake up late for work, you have no time to prep a freshly made lunch. I opted to buy lunch again for work, but I wanted to try something new. So on a windy and rainy day, I set out for a different lunch than usual.

I was underdressed. The sun that came out in the morning was mocking me in the afternoon when an out pour of rain occurred. I had come prepared with an umbrella, but not a jacket. Hummus and Pita Co had their doors open and the draft had become their AC. Why didn't I listen to my gut instinct?

I thought of trying Hummus and Pita Co for a while. Mediterranean food done Chipotle style. It's quick and reasonable priced. You have the choice of having a gyro, a laffa, a bowl or a plate. I went with the bowl because I knew I was really hungry. I had originally thought of getting the plate, but then decided to have the bowl. Luckily I made the right choice because I was really full. With a bowl you have 2 fill-ins and with a plate, you have 3. I chose falafel as my "meat". My fill-ins were corn salad and yellow rice. I was warned against trying the wrapped grape leaves by a co-worker. My complimentary toppings were cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce finished with a tzaziki sauce. The meal also comes with a pita bread. I also got a Coke. Unhealthy on my part, but it was part of my week to splurge.

The falafel was definitely good. It does go well with the hummus, but hummus alone didn't taste that great. It was very bland. The yellow rice was nicely done with the right amount of seasoning. I would get it again. The corn salad was surprisingly acidic. It was too sour for my liking. I wanted to taste more of the corn's sweetness. The tzaziki sauce was more like having a light yogurt, but not very salty. If I ever go back I would pick a different option liked a roasted meat.
