[Food Review] Go Go Curry
Each time I want to go to Go Go Curry, it's not Go Go Day. It's the gimmick that keeps people from coming back. On every 5th, 15th, and 25th of the month, you earn a free topping coupon with your purchase. So finally I landed on a Go Go Day last month.
Because I'm a carnivore, the struggle to pick which type of meat to eat is unique to the meat eaters. So why not get all of them. The Home Run includes a shrimp tempura, a katsu (pork or chicken of your choice), a sausage, and an egg over cabbage and rice. When I opened up my lunch box, the small of curry permeated the entire office. I'm not sure how to describe it, but Japanese curry is very different from other curries. Yes, it does have spices, but for some reason the taste is so different. I miss Indian curry.
I always have a fear of getting a really dry katsu. Luckily my pork katsu was moist. I got the chicken katsu another time and I have to say, I prefer pork over chicken. The meat has been marinated overnight. They drizzle a sweet sauce over it. They use Kewpie mayonnaise for the freshly fried tempura. Your egg is the plain old boiled egg. That sausage however really disappointed me the first time. It looked so dark and charred and it tasted as it looked. Terribly charred. The second time I got the Home Run, they didn't mess up the sausage.
Your cabbage portion is actually really small. You can of course ask them to double the portions of rice and cabbage at an extra cost. The meal overall is packed with a lot of flavor and you do get very full from it. The Go Go Curry at the Chelsea location is very small. There's some space for you to sit, but it gets really hot. Maybe in the winter time I would do that. Would I go back again? If I didn't make lunch that day and I have a free topping coupon, sure.
