The final part to my Shanghai trip was the cruise. It is a cruise that takes you along the Huangpu River to see Shanghai at night. This was the final attraction and the final time the entire would be together. The next morning, we will all depart for the airport. It was a bit sad because all of us had finally begun to get closer to each other.
We were actually a bit late to our cruise and had to wait for a half hour probably for the ship to let us on. Some people in line were pushing and running to get on the ship. The rest of us stared at these uncivilized people making a fool of themselves. It was funny because these very same people ran in the wrong direction towards the exit. Good job guys. You freed up some space for us. By the time we got on the ship, all the seats for closer views were already occupied. A couple of people in the group motioned us to go upstairs for a better view.
The current didn't feel strong, but once the ship left, the winds became extremely strong and chilly. I had the professional camera with me and some people wanted photos. So I helped take pictures. Eventually almost everyone we knew jumped in and it became a huge group photo. A few of us shared contact information and now we are friends over the Internet. The view of the city at night wasn't too spectacular in my opinion. It's the people that made it fun.
We were all divided into small groups the next morning leaving by small vans. Some of us went back home to their country. A good portion of us were staying in China for more travel fun. One family was immediately going for a 6 day trip to Beijing. We shared the van with the Hakka couple and learned that they came from Panama. They were going to see relatives in China for the rest of their time. On the plane ride back, I watched a movie and played mahjong the entire time.
