Yoshiki Grammy Museum Performance 2.19.14

Holy crap, last night was awesome.  I've never been this dedicated as a fan of anything since probably Gackt.  To bring things up to speed, Yoshiki was performing at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles.  It was also a way to announce his classical world tour which sounds pretty exciting.  I most likely will not be able to visit any of the dates due to scheduling, but if I ever get a chance to see Yoshiki perform, it would be a great experience.  To clear things up, I was watching a live stream of the performance at the Grammy Museum, I wasn't actually there.  Yet many people around the world just like me were on their mobile devices or on a computer watching Yoshiki perform.  It was 8pm over there in LA and 11pm in NY so I had to stay up late, but it was worth it.

Yoshiki was definitely late and a lot of people that commented said that it has happened before so I decided to wait along.  When he finally appeared, he was answering questions from the press in English and in Japanese.  Stan Lee also appeared to introduce Yoshiki as the main guest at the performance.  The head of the museum was also to give the opening speech.  They made a small exhibit of Yoshiki related stuff like the Yoshikitty and a stage costume.  Every time Yoshiki talked, it was very fun to listen to him speak.  He sounds like a really nice guy and even a bit shy, but it was really cute.  There were times where I felt he was genuinely nervous.  It was a very short performance overall and lot's of time was used to give speeches.  This was the playlist for last night.

Forever Love
Golden Globe theme
Red Rhapsody ( feat. Katy from VioletUK)
IV
Art of Life (only a portion since the original is very long)
Endless Rain

It was a small stage and even Yoshiki himself said it was small.  Maybe it was technical issues that sometimes they skipped over two slides featuring tour dates and venues.  Yoshiki was very funny about it, "Did they cancel it without me knowing about it?" something along those lines.  During one of the performances Yoshiki had to gesture the staff to hand over sheet music.  I thought it should have gone very smoothly, but that's just me.  The quartet and Yoshiki performed beautifully together.

I screenshotted a couple of images while the performance was streaming.  Some of it was terribly pixelated even though I set the video to run at best performance.  I think it was just poor connection and bad weather in my area.  See the images by clicking the "read more".  Click on the images for a full view.

My connection didn't begin too smoothly so I let it run on a small screen.  And yes, I set Kyo of Dir en grey as my browser theme.  I'm quite fond of it.

Yoshiki was answering questions at this point.

Yup that's Stan Lee right there.

Yoshiki was late and we were waiting for a long time.  This was the friendly disco ball that accompanied us the entire time.

There was an opening video giving a brief introduction about Yoshiki.  I thought he looked cool as a conductor.

Stops after two songs to announce a world classical tour.

Katy of VioletUK providing the vocals for Red Rhapsody.

"It's too fucking bright" is what I recall hearing.

Couldn't catch his face quickly enough.  He accepted some gifts and left quickly.  This was a wave goodbye as he turned to exit.

As soon as he exited, I turned off my computer.  I had a morning class to attend the next day and I needed some serious sleep.  I was dead tired in class today, but I was genuinely happy to have watched this performance.  I was so happy that I ended up seeing Yoshiki perform in my dreams last night.  That was quite pleasant.
