Dave and Buster's

What better thing to do than to hang with your friends playing arcade games? For the very first time I stepped into an arcade. You may be thinking what kind of childhood did you have not playing arcade games? I don't know man. Somehow I managed to live without arcade games and allowances. These were two friends that I haven't seen in ages. We attended the same high school together and pretty much never ended up in the same class.

My friend suggested we go to Dave and Buster's. When I got off the train at Bryant Park, I recognized the ever chaotic Times Square. I mean we are talking tourists everyday, long lines to Madame Tussaud's, and knockoff Cookie Monster and Minion mascots. It turns out we all were late because we each had our own transportation problems and I managed to get there first. I saw that two schools of kids had already walked into Dave and Buster's. Oh no, that's every adult's living nightmare; loud kids running around. It turns out that schools were taking students out on their senior trips. Oh boy. Plus Wednesdays are half price. Even more people appeared

When I finally saw my two friends, we all hugged. It had been so long and it looks like none of us really changed. The only thing that really changed was hair and clothes. We originally wanted to go play first, but the card machines weren't programmed yet since we were there so early. So we decided to eat first. For me, it was an early lunch 'cause I already had a large breakfast. As it turns out due to a huge wave of customers, the kitchen had just opened and they had a huge flood of orders to take care of. Our section only had one server and there were a lot of noisy kids in our section. I think our server was very nice and she was very efficient. Even though our stuff came slow, she came to check in on us and our food wasn't messed up. I went for the eat and play combo which I think is a value meal. I ordered the Dave and Buster's cheeseburger with fries that comes with a $10 power card. I paid $20 including tips and tax. man, I was really full. I couldn't even finish my fries. They weren't overly salty which was good. My burger was done really well.

Since games were half price, my $10 power card was worth $20 worth of games. There's so many games to pick from and many of them are kid friendly. I don't remember how many new games I played. Some of them I did poorly like shooting hoops, but some of them I did really well like scoring soccer goals. Funny how both of these are sports games. I was so close to hitting jackpot on the spinning wheel or else I would have won 1000 tickets. My friend on one of the games just casually threw in a ball and it hit one of the jackpots. I was so close and the ball just went down the drain. Some of the games we wanted to try either froze on screen or were broken. I'm pretty sure we did excellent on DDR if it weren't for broken steps. Once we spent all the points on our power card, we pooled in all these points together to get prizes. I settled for a Pikachu plush toy worth 975 points. I had to pick the best one because a lot of them were made poorly. They either had a wonky noise and were terribly stitched. My friend helped me pick the one with the best face. Still it had overly large ears and a poorly stitched bottom. But a prize is still a prize and it feels good to win something.

Afterwards we browsed around Kinokuniya and BookOff before settling for the train home. I can always find something I need at BookOff. Used books at half price. I got two mangas at $5 each. I would have gotten a third one if I remembered which volume I needed. I keep getting manga volumes out of order. Looks like I need to keep a list everywhere I go. I'm just so happy I had a really good day out and the weather was really good too.
