Local Cafe, Youtube, and Charms

Just yesterday, I went out with two friends, Lisa and Jennifer whose blogs I follow respectively, http://lhuang39.blogspot.com  and  http://jennifermacancelasmqonmp.blogspot.com/ .  I haven't left my house in nearly a week and was becoming closer to a hikikomori.  The lack of human interaction had lead me to become reclusive and attached to a computer.  As a result, I mustered up my motivation to contact the both of them for a day out.  I was very pleased to hear that they were available.

One of the main highlights was showing me a pagan store called Namaste Bookshop that the both of them found.  Once you walk in, there is an overwhelming smell of incense that welcomes you.  (I have preferences for being scentless.)  I almost forgot to mention that it's hard to miss the shop because there's a huge Buddha wearing a garland in front of it.  Namaste caters to individuals interested in spirituality of Western and Eastern tradition hence books dedicated to those subjects.  They have incense, essential oils, charms, stones, crystals, tarot decks, and little trinkets.  Even if you're not a pagan like me, it's pretty fun to walk in and explore.  Their stone collection is huge and at affordable prices if you're a stone collector or aficionado.  They have a nice collection of tarot decks ranging from the traditional Rider-Waites deck to the popular Thoth tarot deck to some more modern tastes like a China deck.  I would have purchased one if they had a sample of the illustrations inside.  I'm more interested in the Thoth deck since it was designed Aleister Crowley.  Apparently they also have readers in the store if you want your fortune told.

A lot of the trinkets in the store like beaded bracelets, metal charms, and crystal balls I have came across some place else.  On my previous trips to China, I would browse through a lot of souvenir shops and see nearly the same thing.  Some gift shops only specialized in crystals and some only specialized in stones.  Anyways, it's a good thing that I now know where to go get my souvenirs.  The next time I go, I think I'll get myself a few stones.

Together we visited Gothic Renaissance, a store specializing in gothic clothing and accessories that are extremely expensive to a commoner with no job like me.  We're talking about clothing items with a minimum of $80.  Unless I have Yoshiki as my godfather, it is not possible.  Still it was fun to look at the collection of Venetian masks and some top hats.  I joked to my friends, it needs to come with a pimp cane to complete the outfit.  *sigh*  Perhaps one day I can walk out the front door in visual kei goth garb and have my wallet cry in pain.  The only time today my wallet did not cry was when I ate at Yaya's.  Stuff there is cheap and I scalded my mouth with hot tea.

There's a new cafe called TJ's Coffee World that opened up recently.  It has high ceilings and is very spacious.  Around the corner when you walk in the cafe, there's also a cozy "hallway" where you can sit, drink, and chat.  It's basically a long wooden bench attached to the wall with small square tables.  A perfect place to go to if you're not hungry.  If you are a bit hungry, they have cakes and pastries.  You can enjoy your coffee and tea in china cups rather than disposable ones if you would like to.

Back at home, I encounter a "problem" when I go on to Youtube.  We all know by now there is a square ad that appears on the right sidebar of the video you are watching.  League of Angels, a MMORPG, has been "shamelessly promoting" their game very frequently.  I am so tired of seeing scantily clad fictional girls jumping around when I'm trying to watch a documentary.  I find it disgusting so I have to refresh the page each time and sometimes the same ad comes back after refreshing.  Ughhhh!!!!!  Go away bikini fox tail girl!!  I'm trying to headbang to some heavy metal here ...  At least I got some good scans of Dir en grey of Gigs magazine (Feb 2014).  They look so good in their new image.  They kind of reverted back to their old designs and added something new.  Kyo really reminds me of a stereotypical yakuza and Toshiya looks like a kpop star.  Haha  To each his own.
